Maybe I'm nitpicking, but I think entry names should be on the same form, i.e. dictionary form. So "FF7/Kernel" instead of "FF7/The Kernel". The appearance when linking can be controlled, but I think the baseline should be dictionary form. As for singular/plural form, both variants are OK depending on the case -- an article describing various color modes should naturally be called "color modes", but an article describing what a color mode is should be called "color mode". This is a minor detail though as the English plural form is indicated at the end of the word, while "the" radically alters sort order and no doubt would make people constantly forget the "the" when linking. I won't step on your toes when it comes to creativity (so I won't rename/move the page without checking with you first), I'm just describing how I will add my articles, and it'd be good if we had some sort of consensus on how entries should be formatted. :) --[[User:Qhimm|Qhimm]] 03:14, 7 Mar 2005 (CST) | |||

Article names
:) --Qhimm 03:14, 7 Mar 2005 (CST)
- You're right, The original intent was not to screw up entries between games (FF7 kernel vs FF8 kenrel) So I was trying to be discriptive. I see what you mean. It would seem subdirectories are refrences as children of the parent, so no disabiguity should happen anyway and I was just being paranoid. However, it seems that using subs (FF7/Kernel/Overview) breaks the search function. (It only hits on exact names) I'll try and keep it a little cleaner. Wikipedia has a "No lower case letters as the first letter in an entry" rule. (An example, look up "x86" in Wikipedia.) That's the only formatting rule I'm aware of.--Halkun 04:00, 7 Mar 2005 (CST)
- You're correct that all page refs to FF7/Kernel must include "FF7/". There is in fact no directory structure for articles, so the name of the article is really "FF7/Kernel" (not an article "Kernel" stored under an article "FF7"). Sensible subpage semantics are added later to the wiki UI. :) For this reason you can't use the "Go" function to find the "Kernel" page, as it doesn't really exist. The full search function should find it just fine, though, but someone familiar with the QhimmWiki would try to input FF7/Kernel to find info on the FF7 kernel anyway. (I'll update page links like the Contents to use the "The" form, though) --Qhimm 05:13, 7 Mar 2005 (CST)
- Sure, go ahead and remove the "The" if you want. I suck at referring to other pages, I'll and keep the article usage down from now on.--Halkun 07:32, 7 Mar 2005 (CST)
